Prospects for the development of ecotourism in the Kakheti region on the basis of landscape diversity

Tourism sector is one of the largest and the most dynamic field. It plays crucial part in foreign economic relations of many world's developed and developing countries, including our own country's. Kakheti is on of the most attractive regions, which currently only uses a fraction of its masive tourism potential. However, do not forget about the ecological deterioration, which adversely affects the daily lives of our citizens. Mass tourism development could further worsen the situation, because it is among the region's natural resource exploitation-oriented industries, unlike the modern sustainable alternative to it - ecotourism. Ecotourism includes a variety of activities, so the necessary resources in according to develop it also varies immensely, but the main trend still remains the observation of natural and anthropogenic landscapes, as well as the cultural-historical monuments that are the part of them, for recreational or cultural-educational purposes. Therefore, the main precondition for the development of ecological tourism is the landscape and bio diversity. A special role is assigned to the set of protected areas. Kakheti region stands out particularly in this respect, and therefore has a great potential for the development of ecological tourism and it different field.
